Trần Thanh Long, an AI Advisor at Quy Nhơn AI Research and Application Center (QAI) under FPT Software, has been appointed as a Professor at the University of Warwick, UK.
Expressing his excitement over this milestone, Professor Long shared:

After years of developing his career in the UK, Professor Trần Thanh Long has been driven by a strong aspiration to bring AI applications into practical use in Vietnam. At FPT, he found like-minded colleagues who shared his vision of working on impactful projects for the community and building an "AI Valley" in Quy Nhơn.
Since joining FPT as an AI advisor in February 2022, Professor Long has played a key role in:
Providing technological consultancy and AI solutions for QAI’s product ecosystem, including akaCam and akaOCR.
Strategizing the development of AI-powered products at QAI – FPT Software.
In collaboration with FPT and Google Research, Professor Long was awarded a research grant to develop an AI-powered grazing management solution for AfriScout, a non-governmental organization (NGO), to support millions of farmers in Africa.
Under his leadership, FPT AI experts successfully built and deployed an AI-driven platform to optimize livestock grazing in arid regions, benefiting over 2 million farmers. This project was recognized at the "AI for Social Good" conference organized by Google Research, winning the "Most Impactful Award" – one of the event’s three highest honors.
Building on this success, he continued to develop AI-powered solutions for agriculture, healthcare, and education, contributing to the advancement of akaCam, akaMedic, and other AI-driven products.
